The NHL has a number of great games scheduled for today as the Pittsburgh Penguins host the Philadelphia Flyers. BetOnline.com has the Philadelphia Flyers as the 1.5 point favorites .
The Flyers blew a big opportunity to bury one of the teams chasing them for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Philadelphia dropped two games against the Maple Leafs this week, though they did pick up a point in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime loss. The Flyers are still 5-2-3 in their past 10 games, though, so if they can play solid hockey for the rest of the season they'll probably make a postseason appearance. Philly has suffered numerous devastating injuries this season, none more serious than Mike Richards, who leads the team in scoring. Richards hasn't played since February 14, but he could return to action this weekend.
Despite playing without Sidney Crosby – his ankle injury is lingering – Pittsburgh filled the net on Wednesday, winning 7-3 over Buffalo . Crosby, who has four points in his last three games, is expected to return to action against the Flyers. Everyone picked up the slack against the Sabres, with seven different Penguins scoring. Tyler Kennedy led the way with a goal and two assists. The Pens have won four of their past five games and look poised to make a serious run at the Stanley Cup. Netminder Marc-Andre Fleury also recently returned from injury and has been sharp; he has a 2.05 goals against average, .944 save percentage and a shut out in four games this month.
Philadelphia has owned Pittsburgh this season, going 4-1 in the season series. The Penguins are clearly the better team but for some reason can't figure out the Flyers. With Philly coming off two bad losses, now is the time. Get your Free NHL Pick in Now!
