The Pens haven’t allowed a goal on the penalty kill in five straight games, or 17 kills.

Goalie Jimmy Howard stopped 29 of 34 shots and is 7-3 in his last ten with a 2.80 GAA. Overall he’s 28-15-9 with a 2.32 GAA and a .924 SVPCT. Detroit leads Calgary by two points for the eighth and final Western Conference playoff berth. They are scrambling to keep pro sports' longest-active streak of 18 straight playoff appearances alive .
