There's only four games on-tap in the NHL on Wednesday, but a few of them have significant playoff implications such as the Vancouver Canucks play the Colorado Avalanche. BetOnline.com has the Colorado Avalanche -175 odds favorites against the Vancouver Canucks +170 with the over/under set at 5 goals.
Colorado is free-falling, losing four straight games. The skid has dropped the Avalanche to eighth overall in the Western Conference and allowed Nashville, Edmonton and even Chicago to remain in the hunt. Worse yet, three of those four losses were to division opponents – including Saturday's 7-5 loss to Edmonton – and all of Colorado's remaining games are against Northwest Division teams. The Avs need to find a way to get things going because things are still wide open; they could win the division or miss the playoffs entirely.
The Canucks have been solid if unspectacular lately, winning six of their past 10. Friday's 2-1 loss to Minnesota snapped a three-game winning streak. The offense seemed to finally pick things up a bit during the winning streak, as Vancouver potted 11 goals during that span. It was more of the same against the Wild, though, and the Canucks will need to score a little more consistently to have a shot at holding its playoff spot. Things got so desperate that the Sedin twins were played on different lines for the first time in their careers. They did remain together on the power play, however.
Colorado leads the season series 4-1-1, but the Canucks have been a little bit better lately. Get your Free NHL Pick in Now!
