Edmonton suffered a big blow to its playoff hopes after Wednesday's 3-1 loss in Minnesota. It was the Oilers' second loss in four games, dampening some of the high spirits generated by a 12-3 run heading into the Minnesota game. The Oilers have a very outside chance of qualifying for the playoffs and essentially need to win out. Even then, it might now be enough. A bad sign of things to come is the struggling power play, which hasn't converted on its last 19 attempts.Calgary has been solid as of late, racking up four wins in its last six games, including Tuesday's big 3-2 win over Vancouver. The Flames are now flip-flopping with Minnesota for the Northwest Division lead on a nightly basis, and the race will likely come right down to the wire. Goalie Mikka Kiprusoff has been solid, racking up a 2.38 goals against average and .922 save percentage in his last six starts. He'll be a key player down the stretch for the defensive-oriented Flames. His teammates have helped him out by killing off 24 of their last 27 penalties. These teams have battled it out this year, splitting the season series at three games a piece. Edmonton looks cooked, though, while Calgary is still playing for a division crown.
