BetOnline.com has the Ottawa Senators –125 odds favorites against the Boston Bruins +105 with the over/under set at 5.5 goals. Ottawa's disappointing, topsy-turvey play continues. Heading into Thursday's action, the Senators were 5-4-1 in their last 10 games. They did get a big 6-3 win in Buffalo on Tuesday, scoring five third-period goals to come from behind.
Although the Northeast Division is out of reach, Ottawa can still make a run at fourth overall in the Eastern Conference, which would assure it home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs. The good news is the offense has awakened from its slumber, scoring 15 goals in the last three games. The bad news is the Sens managed to lose two of them.
Boston followed up a three-game losing streak with an incredibly massive 6-2 win over the Maple Leafs on Tuesday. The Bruins are clinging to the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, with Buffalo, Florida, Toronto and especially Washington pursuing closely behind. Boston has struggled to a 3-4-3 record in its last 10 games, largely because of an inept offense. Before Tuesday's breakout against Toronto, the Bruins had scored 14 goals in their last 10 games.
Ottawa and Boston have played close this season, with the Bruins trailing 2-3-1 in the season series. Neither team is playing particularly great, but the Senators are a more talented club. Get your free NHL Pick in Now!
