 After dropping the first two games of their best-of-seven series at home, the Anaheim Ducks pulled out a mighty performance on the road in Game 3 to snatch a win. The defending Stanley Cup champions will need a similar effort when they clash with the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center on Thursday. However, this just masks an offensive problem that may be the Ducks' undoing. They have gotten only one goal from the duo of Todd Bertuzzi and Teemu Selanne, while Scott Neidermayer has a single assist and a rating of -1. The Ducks are really missing injured forward Corey Perry, who does not appear to be ready to return after severing his quadriceps muscle. Jean-Sebastien Giguere also needs to play better, as a GAA of 3.67 is not the type of numbers that will get your team to the Stanley Cup finals. The Stars were very slow to get out of the gate in Game 3, but they outplayed the Ducks over the second half of the game. Captain Brenden Morrow tried to spark his team with two third-period goals, but it was too little, too late at that point. The Stars have been getting balanced scoring, but a fast start is essential in Game 4, because the Ducks are a very difficult team to play when you are behind. Goaltender Marty Turco has been outplaying his Anaheim counterpart, as the 32-year-old has a stellar GAA of 2.02. The Stars are -130 home favorites in this contest, but the Ducks seem to play their best when their backs against the wall. Look to earlier this season, when people were writing them off for their slow start. The Stars are not especially great at home, but Turco is playing extremely well right now and will be eager to avenge his play in the first half of Game 3.
