2010 NHL Playoffs: Buffalo Sabres vs Boston Bruins Game 6 Odds & PredictionsThe Sabres avoided an early exit after defeating the Bruins 4-1, at home, in Game 5. They got goals from Adam Mair, Jason Pominville, Mike Grier and Tyler Ennis. Goalie Ryan Miller played lights out after stopping 34 of 35 shots and is 2-3 with a 2.03 GAA. The Sabres might have their best offensive player, Thomas Vanek, back on the ice tonight. Thomas Vanek hasn't played since injuring his left ankle in the first period of the second game of the series."When he feels that he can be effective, he's going to play," Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said Sunday after Vanek practiced for the second straight day. "I've told him that, 'When you think you can be effective, you're playing.' If he knocks on my door (Monday) and says, 'I'm ready,' he's playing." Vanek had 28 goals and 25 assists in the regular season and he performed well in these playoffs. He scored the first goal in Buffalo's 2-1 win in the series opener and assisted on the first goal of Boston's 5-3 win in Game 2, despite playing just 4 minutes, 22 seconds.

The Bruins already wasted one chance to wrap up the series and don't want to go back to Buffalo. The Bruins have won their last four home games, two in the playoffs. But the Sabres have scored the first goal in all five playoff games."It'd be nice to get a first goal," Boston captain Zdeno Chara said. "That's always a big energy boost. So we have to focus on getting a really good start and be ready for them." Boston defenseman Johnny Boychuk has a goal and an assist in the past two games as does Satan , the double-overtime hero of Game 4. Marc Savard has to convince doctors he’s ready to play after sustaining a Grade 2 concussion on March 7. The centre skated with his teammates for the first time on Sunday and is scheduled for a neuro-psych test on Monday."It's a tough situation, obviously. It's a huge game and I haven't played in a long time. But I felt great out there," Savard said. "I don't know what the situation is. We haven't talked much about it yet. So, obviously, it's not looking good right now." One issue for Julien is Savard's conditioning. Goalie Tuukka Rask gave up the most goals of this series last game and he wants to rebound with a win tonight, he’s 3-2 with a 2.03 GAA.
