The Canucks pounded, and shocked, the Hawks with a 5-1 shellacking. Vancouver used its speed and depth, getting scoring from all four if its lines, something coach Alain Vigneault stressed would be pivotal against the Blackhawks. "That was important for us, get everyone involved and get confidence," Daniel Sedin said. "Other than that, it's a new game. If didn't matter if you won 3-2 or 5-1. It's 1-0 in games and that's all that matters." Goalie Roberto Luongo, who backstopped Canada to the gold medal, looks like the dominant goalie he can be. “He's one of the best in the world," Henrik Sedin said. "If he's on top of his game, we can bring our offense like we did (in Game 1). Daniel Sedin has points in his last five games, registering 3 goals and 6 assists over that time for the Canucks. Henrik Sedin has 2 goals and 5 assists over that time. The Canucks have killed 18 of their last 20 penalties after the Los Angeles Kings went for 6-for-6 at one point during their first-round series. Anything can happen, but another blowout in Game 2 seems highly unlikely. The Canucks are expecting to take the Blackhawks' best punch. "They're going to be hungry (in Game 2), for sure," Canucks forward Mason Raymond said. "They're going to be more physical. It's definitely going to be a highly intense game."

The Blackhawks had the life sucked right out of them in Game 1. They've lost the first game of their last four playoff series and now they're in a hole against a talented Vancouver team with lots of speed and a stellar goalie. Their plan that worked last year was to crowd the net, but that didn‘t work this time. The Blackhawks were unable to bother Luongo with traffic at the net, a strategy that was so effective a year ago when Dustin Byfuglien parked his big frame near the crease, or beat him with rebounds. "We generated enough traffic that usually we're going to find the net at least three, four, five times," Coach Quenneville added. The Canucks led the Western Conference in scoring. "It seems like they've gotten a lot better from last year. They're so good offensively , you've got to play a puck possession game and keep it away from their big guns," said Patrick Kane, who had Chicago's lone goal on a two-man advantage power play in the third after the Canucks were up 5-0. Patrick Kane has 3 goals in his last 3 games and 5 points overall during that stretch.
