NHL Picks Preview: New York Rangers at Pittsburgh Penguins

NHL Picks Preview: New York Rangers at Pittsburgh PenguinsSidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins host the New York Rangers tonight in the NHL TV game on Versus.  The Rangers come into the game struggling at 2-4-1, mainly because their high priced talent has not produced much for NHL betting fans.  Free-agent centers Chris Drury and Scott Gomez are not scoring and center Martin Straka is hurt.  The Rangers come into tonight’s game having scored the fewest goals in the NHL.

SBG Global reports that early NHL betting has the public taking the Penguins at home.

The Rangers have scored just 13 goals this season.  The Rangers end their three game road trip tonight as they try and avoid losing four in a row for the first time since February of last year. Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist has played great but the Rangers have not scored. "Henrik's been great all year," said Gomez, "That's not the area we have to worry about."  It has not helped the Rangers that Jaromir Jagr has been invisible so far this season.  He has just one goal in the Rangers seven games.

The Penguins are coming off a 2-1 win on Saturday over Washington and have won two straight overall.  Pittsburgh has not won three straight since March of last year. "I don't think we can afford to look too far ahead," said center Sidney Crosby, "We've made some good steps here the past couple of games. We have to build off it."  Pittsburgh goalie Marc-Andre Fleury is 6-0-2 with a 2.31 GAA in his last eight games against the Rangers and is 7-6-2 with a 3.15 GAA in 15 career starts versus the Rangers. Last year the Penguins went 5-1-2 against the Rangers including 3-0-1 at home.
