NHL Picks: Montreal Canadians vs Florida Panthers

by Alexander Banks on Friday, December 28th, 2007

The Montreal Canadians travel south in NHL Picks action to take on the Florida Panthers ranked as the #10 team in the NHL at a record of 18-13-0-6 and 42 points.  This will be the Canadians fourth game of a six game road trip and they hope to get back on track after losing their last two in a row.  Montreal hasn’t had much trouble scoring this season as they also rank 10th in that department as well scoring an average of 2.86 goals per game.  Their defense, while certainly not the worst, come in ranked 15th allowing 2.68 goals per game.  They have had a problem this season when they have been short handed as they rank a lowly 24th.  The Canadians have had problems coming back when losing after two periods as they are 27th in the league in winning the game after being behind that late in the game.  Montreal met Florida earlier in the season at home and lost 3-2.  It appears that the Canadians might continue their losing streak as BetUs.com has them listed as a +105 underdog on the money line and +1.5/-250 on the puck line.

The Florida Panthers came into this season hoping that the inconsistencies that they suffered last year were going to be a thing of the past as they finished the season only 1 point better than the previous and six points out of the playoffs.  So far this season they are 18-16-0-3 overall good for 39 points.  For a better season this year the Panthers were looking to improve their scoring and thus far they haven’t been successful in doing that as they rank only 22nd scoring an average of 2.54 goals per game.  Their defense has been middle of the pack giving up an average of 2.68 goals per game.  Although they did score three goals in the final period last night versus Atlanta to win 5-3, just like the Canadians, they have had problems coming from behind as they rank 24th in winning after trailing going into the third period.

The Panthers do come in hot as they have won 4 of their last 5 games overall. The Canadian fans may not have much to cheer about tonight as Montreal is only 4-13 ATS when revenging a loss versus the same opponent this season.  But one ray of hope could be the fact that Florida is 0-7 ATS in home games when playing against a team who has won between 40% to 49% of their games during the first half of the season over the last 2 seasons.

There are a number of games  that present some good profit opportunities.  Michael Alexander is all over these matchups and has your GUARANTEED profits at Alexandersports.
