Awesome Act 2010 Kentucky Derby Odds: Britain’s Awesome Act finished up his training this week in New York’s Belmont Park Training Track just before heading to Louisville for a run at the May 1st Kentucky Derby. Online racebook BODOG.com had listed Awesome Act 12 to 1 odds to win the 2010 Kentucky Derby.
The Gotham Stakes winner Act worked five furlongs in 1:01.53 Tuesday morning. Trainer Jeremy Noseda said it is the first of three scheduled works he is to have before Derby. Awesome Act had a recent injury that is said to heal up before the May 1st Kentucky Derby. He nicked himself on the left hind pastern. It looked to a superficial cut. Jeremy Noseda acknowledged Awesome Act had an infection in the left hind pastern after the Gotham.
During training, assistant trainer Wayne Tanner said he tapped Awesome Act in the stretch "just so he concentrates." He added, "You just got to squeeze him up a little bit without letting his head out, otherwise once he goes past his lead horse in his breeze he'll go to sleep.”
Awesome Act, the son of Awesome Again, is expected to arrive in Louisville tomorrow morning (April 16) and have his first day on the Derby track this Saturday.
