Conveyance 2010 Kentucky Derby Odds: Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert sent Conveyance out for some hard and serious workouts yesterday morning at Churchill Downs to prepare for the 2010 Kentucky Derby. Online racebook BODOG.com had listed Conveyance 25 to 1 odds to win the 2010 Kentucky Derby.
Conveyance arrived at the historic track from Southern California late Tuesday
afternoon, galloped around the track on Wednesday and surprised onlookers with extreme workouts on Thursday . Bob Baffert called the speedy Conveyance, who incurred his first defeat when second as an odds-on favorite in the Sunland Derby last out, "a good horse. He jumps a long ways. We didn't really let him run the way he likes at Sunland, but that's not going to happen in the Derby. We're not going to grab him. He's more like the War Emblem type," referring to his 2002 Derby winner, "the kind of horse you've just got to let him run."
The Californian horse isn’t used to the dirt. Trainer Bob Baffert explained, “I just want to see how they handle it when they work. They're coming from synthetic, so I just want to get them (speaking of Looking at Lucky and Conveyance) that extra stroll through there to get used to it because, you know, it's different. It's totally different from what they're used to. I think we'll sharpen them up for the next work."
Conveyance is an American Thoroughbred racehorse who is currently unbeaten leading up to the Triple Crown series. He is by leading stallion Indian Charlie and out of the broodmare Emptythetill, herself a daughter of American Horse of the Year Holy Bull. He was bred by Gulf Coast Farms LLC and Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency. Conveyance was bought for $240,000 by Legends Racing.
