Mendip 2010 Kentucky Derby Odds: Lack of experience is a potential stumbling block for Mendip to become one of the top 2010 Kentucky Derby Contenders on May 1st at Churchill Downs. Online racebook BODOG.com had listed Mendip 40 to 1 odds to win the 2010 Kentucky Derby.
Mendip is one of Harlan’s Holiday colts 
and is full of promise despite little experience. Mendip’s trainer Sieed Bin Suroor says, "He had a couple of little setbacks after Kempton which meant we couldn't run him again. He scoped dirty for instance, and it is a shame as we would have liked to run him again. He has always been pretty immature and is still pretty green and immature. He is very short of experience, but is potentially a very nice horse."
Mendip broke his maiden at first asking last September at Kempton and is two-for-two at Meydan. On Feb. 11, he took a conditioned allowance race going about seven furlongs, then stretched out to about 1 1/8 miles March 4 in taking the $250,000 Derrinstown Stud Bahri Al Bastakiya by 6 1/4 lengths.
The inexperienced racehorse is expected to make a promising position for himself during the 2010 Kentucky Derby.
