ille this week for the 2010 Kentucky Derby. After Wednesday’s pick, Ike Thrash commented, “I said I wanted 7, but with 20 to pick from, 5 is great. With a speed horse like Line of David, you’re afraid if you get 1 or 2 you get mashed into the rail. But 20, that’s so far out, you don’t want that. Anywhere in the middle would have been fine.” He added that the placement “is just about perfect.”
Witnesses say that during Monday’s final workout, Line of David “goofed off.” The speed horse wasn’t too comfortable with the track and had a terrible training session with trainer John Sadler. Owner Ike Thrash speculates the bad workout was due to Line of David not having his blinkers on.
Line of David won the Arkansas Derby. His sire, Lion Heart, ran second to Smarty Jones in the 2004 Kentucky Derby.
