"There's no difference," stated trainer Derek Ryan about his first appearance at the Kentucky Derby. "I still have to get up early in the morning, unfortunately. And I'm still looking for a rich woman with a bad heart."
Ryan bet $100 on Musket Man in Las Vegas back in January when Musket Man was had Kentucky Derby odds of 150 to 1 and stands to make a $15,000 if his colt wins on Saturday. "You know what they say: what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas," Ryan said. "I'd love to go back to cash it. I might not come back with much of the money after I get there. It's (ticket) in the ashtray in my pickup truck at Monmouth. I don't smoke, so it's safe."
“Wasn't a fan before the draw and I'm certainly not a fan after it,” stated VegasInsider.com Horse Racing Analyst Anthony Stabile when asked to comment on the 2009 Kentucky Derby Odds on Musket Man. “Will probably have to use some of his speed to avoid early traffic trouble and that doesn't bode well for him. Connections are a serious concern as well.”
