Lookin At Lucky did not draw favored status by accident as the Smart Strike sired horse has won six of his eight career 
starts. Three of those wins have come in Grade 1 stakes. Lucky did disappoint in his final race leading up to today's Triple Crown run, though, placing third in the 1 1/8 mile Santa Anita Derby in early April.
Despite that slip up, Baffert and Pegram still have faith that Lucky can get it done at Churchill Downs, even after drawing the rail for today's 136th Derby.
"There's no use crying about it. All weve got to do is think positive," Pegram said. "He's talented enough that he'll be able to run his race from anywhere. It's better to have a good trip than good post position."
Baffert echoed Pegram sentiments, stating: "It is what it is. You can't worry about that. You've [just] got to break well."
The pair will count on jockey Garrett Gomez to do that when he boards Lookin At Lucky this afternoon. Gomez, who drew some criticism for the way he rode Lucky at Santa Anita and the Breeders' Cup Juvenile, has had eight Derby mounts in his career, including last year's second place finisher Pioneerofthe Nile.
