Coming off victories in the Gotham Stakes and Wood Memorial at Aqueduct, the odds makers at online racebook SBG Global has made I Want Revenge the Kentucky Derby Favorite at +300 odds, The 2009 Kentucky derby favorite I Want Revenge drew the No. 13 post position Wednesday.
“With the defection of Quality Road, the role of favoritism will fall squarely on his shoulders,” stated VegasInsider.com Horse Racing Expert Anthony Stabile when asked to comment on I Want Revenge, one of the top 2009 Derby Favorites. “While they've done much better in recent years, historically, you want to steer clear of favorites. I'm not so quick to dismiss this colt however as he's shown a brilliance about him in his two dirt starts that could just be the start of something big. With that said, I'm not as enamored with him as some others.”
Stabile continued: “Can he win this? Absolutely, and he might do so easily, but I wouldn't engrave his name on the trophy and fit him for the blanket of roses just yet.” 2009 Kentucky Derby Favorite I Want Revenge will be ridden by jockey Joe Talamo and was trained by Jeff Mullins.
“I Want Revenge overcame adversity to win the Wood Memorial (G1) and that experience should serve him well on Saturday,” stated Horse Racing Expert James Scully when asked to comment on the 2009 Derby Favorites. “He didn't train forwardly when he first arrived at Churchill Downs in early April, but the Jeff Mullins pupil appears to have turned the corner this week and looks to be in fine fettle. With his natural speed, I Want Revenge can put himself into the race from the start, and he's proven to be an excellent finisher, registering BRIS Late Pace numbers of 112 and 118 in his last two starts.”
