With less than two hours to go the various Kentucky Derby Picks options for horse bettors are starting to heat up.  The online racebook Bodog.com has posted match up odds between Summer Bird vs Nowhere to Hide and have made Summer Bird a heavy –140 odds favorite over Nowhere to Hide +110 odds.  Checkout what the Point-Spreads.com Kentucky Derby Picks experts have to say about the pros and cons for each horse in this match up before you place your next horse wager.

#17 – Summer Bird – Another one of the longest Kentucky Derby Picks long shots to compete in the 2009 Derby is Summer Bird. His trainer is Tim Ice and his jockey is Chris Rosier. The pros on Summer Bird are that he closed well to finish third in Arkansas Derby last out, coming from dead last. His sire Birdstone won the 2005 Belmont Stakes while broodmare sire Summer Squall won the 1990 Preakness. The cons for Summer Bird are that he will be making just the fourth start of his career that began just about two months ago. He is eligible for entry level allowance contest and Summer Bird’s trainer and jockey are making their debuts on the big stage, never facing this kind of pressure.

#18 – Nowhere to Hide – Leading up to the 135th Run for the Roses, Nowhere to Hide is slated as a Kentucky Derby Picks long shot to win the Derby. Nowhere to Hide will be ridden by jockey Paco Lopex from the 18th post. His trainer is the acclaimed Nick Zito. The pros on Nowhere to Hide are that his three best races, including lone win, came with blinkers, which are back on. Zito won the Derby in 1991 with Strike the Gold and also in 1994 with Go for Gin. The cons for him are that he is eligible for entry level allowance contest and has never seriously threatened in his previous stakes tries. He has drawn a terrible post and figures to get lost in the shuffle. He is not a big fan of Bridgmohan.
