2010 Preakness Odds Aikenite +1800 Preakness Picks: Todd Pletcher’s colt Aikenite is one of the long shots for the 2010 Preakness Stakes. Alkenite will start from the post #1 rail position. Online racebook SPORTSBOOK.com has posted horse racing betting odds to win the 2010 Preakness Stakes.
Aikenite, owned by Dogwood Stables, trained at Churchill Downs on May 9th and 
worked five furlongs in company in 1:01 2/5. Trainer Todd Pletcher commented, “He broke off a couple lengths behind Megaholtz and they finished on even terms. It was a good work, typical of how he works, and he had a solid gallop out. He will walk tomorrow and go back to the track later this week.” Aikenite and his jockey Javier Castellano simply need to execute the game plane Dogwood Stables has put in place for the Preakness. Dogwood Stables President Cot Campbell said, “This horse has established his racing tactic to take it way back and come rolling at the half-mile pole. Javier has won the Preakness before and is one of the leading riders in the country right now. Our colt's running style is to take back and make one run, and Javier is most effective on that type of horse."
Compared to the Kentucky Derby contenders who have had only two weeks to rest, Aikenite will run after a three-week gap, his last running being the Derby trial. This may be a factor in how well Aikenite fares in the 2010 Preakness.
