Preakness Predictions at Bodog.com have Tone It Down listed at 40 to 1 odds to win the Preakness Stakes this weekend. Tone It Down did not participate in the Kentucky Derby, instead racing in the Frederico Tesio Stakes at Pimlico on May 2nd. The longshot horse took third place in that event.
Tone It Down, who was sired by Medaglia d'Oro, is trained by William Komlo, whose daughter and son-in-law also happen to own the horse. While watching Mine That Bird score an upset win at the Derby might have given Komlo a little hope for a Preakness shot tomorrow, it did not lead to any presumptuous thoughts on his part.
"We're not really hyped up, saying we're going to be a giant killer," Komlo said. "We're going into this race saying I hope we compete well, and I hope everyone stays safe. No matter what happens in the outcome, I hope the horse comes back OK beacuse I think he's got a future."
Tone It Down will be jockeyed by three time Derby winner and two time Preakness winner Kent Desormeaux. Desormeaux piloted Hold Me Back to a 12th place finish at the Derby on May 2nd. He rode Big Brown to the Preakness crown at Pimlico last year.
VegasInsider.com Preakness Predictions expert Anthony Stabile does not like Tone It Down's chances in the Preakness, even with the veteran Cajun on the saddle.
"Desormeaux…must have been really desperate to take the mount on this horse for another crack at it this year," Stabile said. "This horse is a complete throw out."
Tomorrow's Run for the Black Eyed Susans is set to begin at 4:30pm ET at Pimlico in Baltimore, Maryland. The race will be televised live on NBC.
