Preakness Stakes Predictions at Bodog.com have Take The Points listed at 35 to 1 odds in tomorrow's Preakness Stakes. Points is one of several colts that did not take part in the Derby, but will try their luck at Pimlico on Saturday. The Todd Pletcher trained horse took fourth place in his last race, the Santa Anita Derby on April 4th.
Preakness Stakes Predictions expert Anthony Stabile at VegasInsider.com does not see big things coming from Take The Points this weekend.
"Pletcher did the right thing by resisting the temptation to run this guy in the Derby. Too bad he didn't keep that mindset this time around," Stabile said. "Maybe the blinkers will help, but I can't imagine his connections are hoping for more than a minor share, which I think is a reach."
Co-owner of Take The Points , Don Lucarelli, seemed to reiterate Stabile's sentiment when it was announced that the horse would be starting from the number 11 post.
"Naturally, we would have liked to have been a little more inside, like the seven hole or inside of that," Lucarelli said. "It looks like we'll have to use some of our tactical speed in the beginning of the race and see where it goes from there. It's going to be critical for Edgar [Prado] to position the horse over in a good spot."
Prado, who was on the mount for Dunkirk's 11th place Derby run two weekends ago, has never won at the Preakness Stakes. He has two Belmont victories under his belt and he won the 2006 Kentucky Derby with Barbaro.
Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland will host the 2009 Preakness Stakes this Saturday, May 16th. The event will be televised live on NBC at 4:30pm ET.
