2009 Preakness Stakes experts at Bodog.com have Friesan Fire listed at 8 to 1 odds to win the Preakness Stakes. Fire was the Derby favorite after I Want Revenge was scratched from the race, but he went on to finish a distant eighteenth in the Run for the Roses after suffering an injury to one of his front legs. The Larry Jones trained colt had won three straight events before his lackluster finish at Churchill Downs. Despite the injury and the quick turnaround, Jones feels confident that his horse will perform well this afternoon. "He looks good," Jones said. "I'm very pleased with the way he's healed up. If you didn't know how bad he was, you wouldn't know it. We're really happy with the way he's come along, and we're ready to go." Given the three year olds performance on the dirt track at Louisiana’s Fair Grounds, many, including Jones, are hoping that Friesan Fire’s effort at the Kentucky Derby was a mere aberration. “Hopefully, he’s going to rebound. He wasn’t the Derby favorite for no reason,” Jones said. “Hopefully, he had the credentials to earn that spot. Hopefully, he’s going to live up to it and do what he’s supposed to do.” Anthony Stabile, 2009 Preakness Stakes expert and horse racing authority for VegasInsider.com, can see things going either way for Friesan Fire when things get started later today. “[He is] one of a few in here that has me tossing and turning. If the real Friesan Fire shows up, he'll be right there,” Stabile said. “But the foot injury bothers me as does his wheeling back in just two weeks. Combine that with the fact that I think he'll be the ‘wise guy’ horse at post time and a shorter price than he should be and I'm thinking about trying to get him out of the number as opposed to in it.” Bodog.com 2009 Preakness Stakes: Friesan Fire 8 to 1 Preakness Odds Rachel Alexandra 8/5 Visit Bodog.com today to get down on your favorite 2009 Preakness Stakes.
