The 2009 Preakness Stakes Predictions Experts at internet racebook Bodog.com have posted head to head match up odds on Terrain vs Mine That Bird. The 2009 Kentucky Derby winner is a favorite in this match up, with the odds makers making Mine That Bird a –155 odds favorite against Terrain +125 odds.

Terrain, son of colt Sky Mesa, finished in fourth place in the Blue Grass Stakes back on April 11th, 2009. The Arlington Washington Futurity in September 2008 was the last time Terrain won a race after the two horses ahead of him were disqualified. Trained by Albert Stall Jr., Terrain will run from the 6th post position and be ridden by jockey Jeremy Rose. The odds makers at Bodog.com have Terrain listed as a 30 to 1 long shot to win the 2009 Preakness Stakes outright.

"Take the filly [Rachel Alexandra] out of the race and I like my horse as much as anyone in there," said jockey Jeremy Rose, who piloted Afleet Alex to victory in the 2005 Preakness. "I love the fact that he skipped the Derby and he's coming in fresh; it's extremely hard to come back and run a big race after pounding it out in Kentucky."

Besides winning the 2005 Kentucky Derby on the back of 50 to 1 long shot Giacomo, Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith has raced in the Preakness Stakes ten times winning the 1993 Preakness on Prairie Bayou. Smith will be riding Mine That Bird from the 2nd post position. Bodog.com has Mine That Bird listed at 6 to 1 odds to win the race outright.

"He liked being in the back," stated jockey Mike Smith about 2009 Preakness Stakes Predictions contender Mine That Bird. "He seemed to like inside, but inside, outside, whatever you want him to do; It looks like driving a car almost. I'm sure we'll be in the back again Saturday, but not as far back because we're going a shorter distance. I've been around a long time. Just being fortunate enough to ride in Triple Crown races teaches you to handle pressure and I've been fortunate to win. Experience helps. With this horse, I've never seen a horse do what he did, so I can understand why people would be skeptical. But I sure hope I get the same result.  I certainly want to go out there and make the most of it.”

Bodog.com has posted their 2009 Preakness Stakes Predictions Odds on the Terrain vs Mine That Bird Head to Head Match Up:
Terrain: +125
Mine That Bird: -155
