The Preakness Stakes Predictions Experts at internet racebook Bodog.com have listed Big Drama at 10 to 1 odds to win the 134th Preakness Stakes. The Harold L. Queen owned colt won five consecutive races in 2008 and took first in his only 2009 race, the Swale Stakes at Gulfstream Park in March, but was later disqualified and relegated to second for interference. Big Drama was certainly a Triple Crown nominated horse, but a bone bruise derailed plans for him to participate in the Kentucky Derby. The horse's trainer, David Fawkes, felt missing the Derby would give his pupil more time to heal and prepare him for a shot at the top prize in the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico. “I think he fits this race super,” Fawkes said. “That was part of our thought process coming here. Did he fit the race? Did he fit the track? He’s doing super. My confidence level is very high. He’s a very kind horse to ride, which makes him a kind horse to race. He’ll do what we ask him to do.” Celia Fawkes, assistant trainer and wife of head trainer David Fawkes, believes Drama's ability to adapt to a race environment could mean big things for the horse this afternoon. "He's very push-button to ride," stated Celia Fawkes. "He's very responsive. He'll do anything you ask him, whether its sprint or go two turns. He does like to lay close to the pace, but he's got such a good turn of foot. ... He's very, very smart." However, Preakness Stakes Predictions expert Anthony Stabile of VegasInsider.com feels that Big Drama has some proving to do in order to live up to his name. “I've never been a fan of this horse because he's always seemed to be in the right place at the right time,” Stabile said. “Now, he's in the wrong place on the rail [one post] without his trusty blinkers, a move I've never understood. Is the second jewel of the Triple Crown the place you want to make an equipment change? I don't think so.” The Preakness Stakes is set to begin today at 4:30pm ET at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. The second race in the Triple Crown Series will be broadcast live on NBC.
