Belmont Bets: Luv Gov 35 to 1 Belmont Stakes Odds: Internet racebook SBGglobal.com has released their Belmont Bets and the Marylou Whitney Stables owned Luv Gov is listed as the biggest long shot in the field at 35 to 1 Belmont Stakes Odds. The D. Wayne Lukas trained colt drew the No. 5 post for Saturday's $1 million Belmont Stakes. Given the odds Luv Gov received going into the Preakness and now at the Belmont, the colt's owner should, perhaps, consider changing his name to No Luv. The lack of respect probably stems from Luv Gov's needing 10 attempts to break his maiden. The son of Ten Most Wanted finally did that on May 2nd at Churchill Downs. Luv Gov followed up his first win with an eighth place finish at the Preakness, beating out such favorites as Friesan Fire and Pioneerof the Nile. According Luv Gov's owner, John Hendrickson, Lukas, who has won the Belmont four times, the Derby four times, and the Preakness five times, has seen something in Luv Gov ever since he placed in a maiden race. "Luv Gov has been Wayne's favorite horse from the very beginning," Hendrickson said of the Belmont Bets long shot. "When he finished second, he (Lukas) said this is our Preakness and Belmont horse. I told him let's break our maiden first." Lima, Peru native, jockey Miguel Mena, will be aboard Luv Gov in this weekend's Triple Crown finale. It will be Mena's first Belmont Stakes run. The "Test of the Champion" as the Belmont is called, will be run this Saturday, June 6th at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. Coverage of the event begins at 5:00pm ET on ABC.
