Belmont Stakes 2009 Charitable Man 7 to 2 Belmont Odds: The Belmont Stakes 2009 Predictions Experts at internet racebook Sportsbook.com have Charitable Man listed at 7 to 1 Belmont Odds to win the third and final leg of the Triple Crown Series. The three-year old colt did not race in either the Kentucky Derby or the Preakness Stakes, but he has won two of his first three races.Belmont Predictions: Charitable Man 7 to 2 Belmont Odds

Charitable Man, who was sired by Lemon Drop Kid, has generated a lot of pre-Belmont buzz for a horse that did not participate at Churchill Downs or Pimlico. What has people talking is his performance at Belmont Park.

Charitable Man broke his maiden in September of last year at the Futurity Stakes (Grade II) at the Belmont and he won the Peter Pan Stakes (one and one eighth mile - Grade II) in Elmont on May 9th. Between his two victories, the colt took seventh place at the synthetic surface Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (Grade 1) at Keeneland.

Despite his poor performance at Keeneland, trainer Kiaran McLaughlin is not shy about what he thinks Charitable Man can do this weekend out of the sixth post at the Belmont Stakes.

"We feel we've got the horse to beat," McLaughlin said of the Belmont Predictions thoroughbred. "Mine That Bird we have a lot of respect for, Dunkirk, the other horses, but I wouldn't trade places with anyone. We've got a fresh horse, he's 2-for-2 on this race track...we're very confident."

Even Dunkirk's trainer, the venerable Todd Pletcher, feels Charitable Man is the biggest threat in the 10 horse field. "At this point, Charitable Man is going to be on an uncontested, easy lead," Pletcher said. "That's my biggest concern, aside from the fact that he's probably the horse to beat to begin with...he's never been beaten on dirt."

Anthony Stabile, Belmont Stakes 2009 Predictions expert at VegasInsider.com, concurred with Pletcher's analysis. "[Charitable Man] may actually be the controlling speed of the Belmont, especially [with] Rachel Alexandra [being] a no-show," Stabile said.

The third leg of the Triple Crown Series is scheduled for Saturday, June 6th at Belmont Park. ABC will have coverage of the $1 million stakes race starting at 5:00pm ET.
