2010 Belmont Predictions Fly Down 9 to 2 Belmont Stakes Odds: Trainer Nick Zito knows what a Belmont winner looks like and he feels he has a chance with both Ice Box and Fly Down in today's Triple Crown race. Oddsmakers at Bodog.com agree as Ice Box is a 3 to 1 favorite and Fly Down is listed at 9 to 2 odds in the online racebook's 2010 Belmont Predictions. To catch pair in action at the 142nd running of the Belmont Stakes at 6:30pm ET on ABC.
Fly Down has won three of his last four races entering today's Belmont Stakes. The colt captured first place in his last
showing at the G2 Dwyer in May and he took first place at an Allowance race in February. The only blemish on the horse's record is a ninth place finish at the G2 Louisiana Derby in March.
Fly Down's pedigree is just as impressive as his record as he was sired by grade 1 stakes winner Mineshaft, the son of 1992 Belmont victor A.P. Indy. The colt's dam, Queen Randi, was primarily a sprinter, but has produced distance winners as well.
In addition to having two-time Belmont winning trainer Nick Zito (Da'Tara 2008, Birdstone 2004) in his stable, Fly Down will also have the advantage of veteran jockey John Velazquez guiding him down the track this evening. Velazquez won the Belmont aboard Rags to Riches in 2007 and he finished second in last year's race with Dunkirk. The 38 year old Puerto Rican has jockeyed in 13 Belmont Stakes races and he is a winner of five Breeders' Cup events.
