Belmont 2010 Odds: Ice Box 3 to 1 Belmont Favorite: Trainer Nick Zito will attempt to get his third Belmont win today with the Pulpit sired colt Ice Box. Belmont 2010 Odds at BetUS.com have the chestnut colt listed as a 3 to 1 Belmont favorite coming into the third and final leg of the Triple Crown series. Today's 142nd running of the Belmont Stakes is scheduled to get started at 6:32pm ET in Elmont, New York; the event can be seen live on ABC.
Ice Box comes into this evening's race having performed better than just about every horse in the field. The horse finished a 
close second in the Kentucky Derby after a strong late push, which indicates he has the stamina for the 1 1/2 miles track at Belmont Park. The colt also took second at the G2 Fountain of Youth Stakes in February and first at the G1 Florida Derby in March.
Ice Box should be well rested too after his handlers skipped the Preakness to concentrate on a good showing today.
Pedigree is another feather in this colt's cap as both sire and dam (Spice Island) were graded stakes winners. His sire is also a product of 1992 Belmont winner A.P. Indy. So, not only does he come from a strong line of winners, he comes from distance winners too.
Riding Ice Box today will be 25 year old Panamanian jockey Jose Lezcano. Lezcano was aboard the horse for his second place Kentucky Derby run as well as his winning turn at the Florida Derby. Lezcano has had just one Belmont mount, that coming last year when he guided Miner's Escape to a 10th place finish.
Ice Box will begin the 2010 Belmont Stakes from the six post, leaving him next to Fly Down, Nick Zito's other entry in the 12 horse field, and Drosselmeyer.
