Belmont Stakes 2010 Stately Victor 14 to 1 Belmont Odds: Stately Victor came up short in his Kentucky Derby attempt and the colt did not run in the Preakness at all, but today the Jack Conway owned horse will take a crack at the 1 1/2 miles Belmont Stakes. Stately Victor last raced at the Kentucky Derby where he took eighth in the 22 horse field. The pedestrain showing at 
Churchill Downs came on the heels of a 40-1 upset win at the G1 Bluegrass Stakes in April. Prior to the colt's shocking victory at Keeneland, he had placed seventh, fifth, eighth, and fifth in four consecutive Allowance races. So, without his surprise at the Bluegrass, Stately Victor could well be the longest shot among the 12 Belmont contenders.
The horse, which will begin today's race from post nine, certainly has a respectable pedigree having been sired by the great Ghostzapper, the 2004 Breeders' Cup Classic winner, and Collect the Cash; however, his dam was primarily a turf runner. That fact, combined with Victor's lack of success on dirt calls into question his chances at winning the Belmont.
Trainer Michael Maker likes the horse, though, and he is supremely confident in 24 year old Peruvian jockey Alan Garcia.
"Alan knows the horse, and there's nothing we could tell him he doesn't already know," Maker said.
Garcia, despite his young age, already has a Belmont win under his belt after guiding Da'Tara to the title in 2008. He rode Charitable Man to a fourth place finish in last year's turn at Elmont, which was his second career Belmont Stakes race.
