2009 Belmont Predictions: Mine That Bird Flying Private Belmont PredictionsComing in the 7th post is the 2009 Belmont Stakes predictions odds on favorite to win, Mine That Bird. The BetUS.com oddsmakers have Mine That Bird with +140 Belmont predictions odds to win the Belmont today. The 2009 Belmont goes off at 6:27 PM EST. Mine That Bird’s trainer is Chip Woolley Jr. and Calvin Borel is the jockey.

With the Belmont Stakes less than an hour away, Point-Spreads.com takes a look into the pros and cons for Mine That Bird. The pluses for him are that he has turned into a different horse since resorting to his newfound late running style that won him the Derby and finish second in the Preakness. Mine That Bird gets reunited with Borel who rode him masterfully to his Derby score and his Sire Birdstone won the Belmont in 2004, so he should like the added distance.

The cons for Mine That Bird are that he is most effective as a deep closer; horses with that running style normally don't win this. He was aided by fast early fractions in the Derby and Preakness; pace figures to be much slower. Borel already has in his mind that he'll just sit a bit closer which might take him out of his comfort zone. This will be Mine That Bird's third race in 5 weeks and he won't have a workout over the course.

BetUS.com Racebook lists the Mine That Bird and Flying Private Belmont Exacta Odds at +450.

Flying Private is right next to Mind That Bird in the eighth post. Flying Private is a semi-long shot with +1500  Belmont predictions odds at Bodog Racebook. D. Wayne Lukas is his trainer and Julian Leparoux is the jockey. When analyzing the pros on Flying Private, he save the Derby, his last three Beyer figures have been his best yet by far; earned a 102 when fourth in Preakness after encountering traffic on far turn. He is bred to love the distance and gets a rider switch to Leparoux, one of the games' best. Lukas has won four Belmont Stakes; Tabasco Cat in 1994, Thunder Gulch in 1995, Editor's Note in 1996 and Commendable in 2000.

The cons for Flying Private are that he is eligible for an entry level allowance contest. He hasn't hit the board in his three graded stakes try on dirt. His lone win came in six furlong sprint. Flying Private topped out last out, so he could bounce and he also had 3 three races in 5 weeks, which could be too much for him.
