Internet racebook BetUS.com has posted their 2007 Kentucky Derby betting odds making Any Given Saturday 11 to 1 to win the “Race for the Roses” at Churchill Downs. Jockey Garrett Gomez will be riding Any Given Saturday and the three year old was trained by Todd Pletcher. Post time for the 2007 Kentucky Derby is at 6:04 PM EST.
Expert horse racing handicapper Anthony Stabile of VegasInsider.com had this to say about Any Given Saturday, “When this one came home a tired third in the Wood Memorial, I was just about ready to write him off. Then, I saw that he actually hung in there with ‘Nobiz’ until the 1/8 pole and that the third place finish basically secured him a spot in the gate for this. Pletcher probably didn’t have him anywhere near 100% and having duked it out with Street Sense just three weeks earlier in the Tampa Bay Derby, that was probably a good thing because it would have finished him off. Now, he gets four weeks between Wood and Derby and a red-hot Gomez in the saddle. He’s hit the board in all 6 starts at 5 different racetracks, including a second here last season. Another dangerous hombre. The third pick, he’ll be used in all exotics and on some Pick 4 tickets as well.”
