Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense was unable to hold off Curlin at the wire of the 132nd Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland today. The race was too close to call and ended in a photo finish which showed Curlin winning the Preakness by a nose.Curlin finished the 1 3/16th-mile race in 1:53.4 seconds tying the record for fastest time shared by Tank's Prospect in 1985 and Louis Quatorze in 1996. Curlin has won 4 of his five career races with his only loss taking place against Street Sense in the 2007 Kentucky Derby earlier this month at Churchill Downs. Curlin was +350 before the race began at SportBet.com. Curlin paid $8.80 to win, $3.80 to place and $2.80 to show for a $2 bet. Street Sense paid $3 to place and $2.40 to show and Hard Spun returned $3 to show. |
