The 133rd Kentucky Derby will take place on May 5th, 2007 at Churchill Downs as the "Run for the Roses" kicks off the first leg in the Triple Crown. Curlin was overlooked early in the year because of his inexperience but online horse race betting giant BetUS.com has posted betting odds making Curlin a +150 favorite to win the Kentucky Derby.
"He looks like he's ready for the Derby," said Curlin trainer Steve Asmussen, who has won five training titles at Sam Houston Race Park. "He handled a mile-and-an-eighth well. I don't see going a mile-and-a-quarter a problem."
Representatives from Churchill Downs racetrack will honor the late Kentucky Derby 132 winner, Barbaro, and pay tribute to and his owners, Roy and Gretchen Jackson, during a special winner's circle ceremony on Kentucky Derby Day, May 5. The ceremony will take place in the track's everyday winner circle between Races 6 and 7 during the Kentucky Derby Day race card, at approximately 2:30 PM EST.
