The horse will be ridden by jockey Alan Garcia which is making his debut by riding for the first time in the Preakness Stakes. Mint Slewlep Trainer Robert Bailes lost his only other appearance at Pimlico.
Expert Horse Handicapper Anthony Stabile from VegasInsider.com had this to say about Mint Slewley, "The first of five runners that passed up on the Kentucky Derby to await the second jewel of the Triple Crown adds a dash of local flavor as both his wins have come at Pimlico's sister track Laurel, he was the first Preakness runner on the grounds, is the only one has a work over the course and is stabled at Bowie Training Center in Maryland, which serves as headquarters for his trainer Bob Bailes. Last out, he was fourth in the Withers at Aqueduct, hardly the way you want to head into the Preakness. He's eligible for a second level allowance contest and didn't do any damage in his three stakes attempts against much lesser. Complete throw out."
