Internet racebook SportBet.com has posted Preakness odds making C P West at 17 to 1 long shot to win the second jewel in the Triple Crown of Racing. C P West will be ridden by Edgar Prado from the ninth gate. Prado is 0-9 in the Preakness. Trainer Nick Zito has captured a win at Pimlico and the odds look up hill for Zito to repeat his past success with C P West.
Preakness Odds Expert and legendary Horse Racing Handicapper Anthony Stabile of VegasInsider.com had this to say about C P West, "The last of the new shooters and the only one I'm giving a second look to. Since he broke his maiden at first asking last summer at Saratoga, Zito has been high on him and tried him in the G2 Futurity in just his second start. He was second to King of the Roxy that Day before getting into some trouble in the Juvenile, a race in which his sixth place finish beaten 22 lengths is better than it appears. This season, he just missed in an allowance race at Gulfstream before finishing second in the Withers, the same prep Bernardini used to win this event last season. Gets Prado for his third start off the layoff and while I'd be fairly shocked if he won it, I can definitely see him getting a good piece of the pie. The third pick, I'm using him underneath in all my exotic wagers."
