Preakness odds expert and horse racing handicapper Anthony Stabile of VegasInsider.com had this to say about Curlin, "Going into the Derby, most people either loved him or hated him. Not to pat myself on the back, but what happened to him in the Derby is exactly what I thought would happen. The post hurt, he was 14th early on, he put in his run and dug in to finish third. Where he finished and how far he got beat isn't as important however as the education he received that day. He steadied a bit early on, then raced between horses most of the way. When the running really started he had to go five or six wide just to get clear. This is a horse that's used to laying third or fourth, maybe a couple of lengths off the lead and he's usually in front by the ¼ pole. And, keep in mind it was only the fourth start of his career. I think he'll be closer in here, should work out a dream trip and have first crack at the leaders. I just don't think he'll hold off Circular Quay in the end, but it wouldn't stun me if he did. The second pick, I'm using him in all my exotic wagers, in some of my Pick 4 plays as well as in an exacta box with Circular Quay." BetUS.com has posted Preakness odds on who will win the 2007 Preakness Stakes: Curlin: +300 Xchanger: +1400 Circular Quay: +700 King of the Roxy: +1200 Flying First Class: +1800 Hard Spun: +200 Street Sense: +140 CP West: +1800 |
