Preakness Picks Expert Anthony Stabile of VegasInsider.com had this to say about Hard Spun, "I know a lot of people are saying that had Street Sense gotten blocked or stopped, this guy would have had the roses draped around his neck. Are you kidding me? Have we gotten to the stage in this sport where we assumed other horses were hard luck because ANOTHER horse didn't have hard luck? Give me a break. Take nothing away from his effort. He set honest fractions the entire way and managed to beat the rest of the field by almost six lengths. But let's be honest here-if I told you that one horse was going to be able to get three lengths in front in the Derby without setting a suicidal pace, you'd have committed me. And, let's not forget that historically when it's rained at Churchill and the track starts drying out, it becomes somewhat of a speed favoring race track, especially on big days, like the Derby or Breeders' Cup. Bottom line, this horse had a much better trip than anyone could have imagined, ran the race of his life and STILL got beat. He'll be up against it this Saturday and is likely to bounce off of that effort last out. And I'm not just doing this because he's the second choice and offers no value, but I am throwing him out."
