Oddsmakers at internet racebook WagerWeb.com have made King of the Roxy a long shot at 15 to 1 keeping the horse out of all the horse experts Preakness picks at Pimlico. Man that was a mouthful! King of the Roxy will be ridden by jockey Garrett Gomez. Gomez is 0-2 at the Preakness Stakes. Trainer Todd Pletcher is looking for his first Preakness win but he won't get it on this horse.Preakness Picks Expert Anthony Stabile from VegasInsider.com had this to say about King of the Roxy, "A great testament as to why racing partnerships on the whole, especially high-profile ones like Team Valor who owns this colt, are nothing more than get-rich-quick schemes by the people who run them. This horse cost $9,000 as a two year old, broke his maiden for his former connections then was purchased for probably far less than what's been reported and what he's worth. Had some success sprinting last year in a couple of G2 events before getting killed in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile. Looked like he was home free in the G1 Santa Anita Derby last out before remembering at the eighth pole that he's not bred to go a step past a mile when Tiago ran by him like he was in quicksand. So of course the next logical step is to run in the Preakness. I hope you sensed the sarcasm there. Enjoy the TV time and the free lunch, Barry. I'm passing."
