Miami vs Florida State College Football Picks, College Football Odds & College Football Predictions: The Miami Hurricanes and the Florida State Seminoles renew their rivalry this evening as they meet at Doak S. Campbell Field in Tallahassee. Tonight's game, which will be broadcast live ESPN, is scheduled to kickoff at 8:00pm ET. College Football Picks at online bookmaker Sportsbook.com have the 'Noles pegged as a -6 against the spread favorite in tonight's ACC battle.

Miami has yet to turn the corner under Head Coach Randy Shannon,Miami vs Florida State College Football Picks, Odds & Predictions but they have their best shot of doing so in this, his third year. The team went 7-6 a season ago after falling 17-24 to Cal in the Emerald Bowl. Shannon welcomes 15 starters and 49 lettermen back from that squad, giving him his most experienced and talented team since returning to Coral Gables.

At quarterback the Canes have a young but talented Jacory Harris. Harris had two starts last year as a true freashman and finished the season with 1195 yards, 12 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Harris will be aided by the best offensive line Shannon has coached at Miami as well as the return of last season's top four receivers and top two running backs.

The Hurricanes defense brings back seven from a unit that allowed 24.2 points per game and 317 yards per game. The team had issues stopping the run last season, giving up 152 rush yards per outing (4.0 yards per carry). Florida State exploited that weakness in last year's 39-41 win, racking up 310 yards on the ground at 5.8 yards per clip.

Improvement at linebacker and along the defensive line should help curb that disturbing trend.

The No. 18 Seminoles went 9-4 last season and finished second in the ACC's Atlantic division with a 5-3 conference mark. Bobby Bowden has 13 starters and 53 lettermen back from last year's Champs Sports Bowl winning squad.

The offense, which produced an average of 33.4 points per game in 2008, has eight starters back, including signal caller Christian Ponder (2006 yards, 14 touchdowns, 13 interceptions) and most of the offensive line. The top running back and top two receivers are, however, gone.

Defensively Florida State loses six starters from a unit that allowed just 20.2 and 295 yards per contest. The top three tacklers and the top passer rusher have all moved on. All is not lost here, though, as Bowden and his staff recruited well.

The linebacker core is young and inexperienced but loaded with talent and the defensive line and secondary have six senior starters between them.

Tonight's game marks the 53rd meeting between these two bitter rivals. The Hurricanes have a 30-23 edge in the series and have won six of the last nine contests including their 2003 Orange Bowl win.
