Did Doyle Brunson Get Arrested?

by Thomas Jensen on Monday, February 12th, 2007

Doyle Brunson knew he had a bounty on his head but did not realize that the Feds would be the one's to claim it.  The online poker community woke up Monday morning to find reports that legendary poker player Doyle Brunson was arrested overnight in Los Angeles.

Gambling911.com has reported that they have made contact with representatives from Brunson’s camp denying the arrest took place and claiming Brunson was actually in Texas.

"As far as we know, Doyle is at home sleeping in his bed. Don't quote me on any of that but we have someone going over to his house to check on him."

The poker legend and spokesperson for DoylesRoom.com recently made a big splash at the Sun Dance Film Festival by hosting an invite-only Celebrity Poker Tournament on January 21st, 2007 with proceeds benefiting Operation Smile.  Actors Danny Masterson, Mathew St. Patrick, Lance Bass, Reichen Lehmkuhl, Nick Cannon, Bijou Phillips and 2006 WSOP Champion Jamie Gold were all in attendance. The entire internet gambling industry has been walking on pins and needles since the arrest of NETeller founders Stephen Lawrence and John Lefebvre on money laundering and tax evasion charges back in January 2007.  Since the arrests, several online payment gateways have decided to leave the US market to avoid falling in the crosshairs of the Department of Justice’s witch hunt against internet gambling operators and facilitators.

Point-Spreads.com will continue to report on this developing story as it unfolds.
