UFC 108 Odds, Picks & Predictions: The action returns to the Octagon tonight as UFC 108 takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. UFC 108 is scheduled to get underway at 10:00pm ET/7:00pm PT and can be seen live on Pay-Per-View. The 10 fight card is headlined by a non-title bout between top light heavyweight contenders Rashad Evans and Thiago Silva. It also features heavyweight up and comer Junior Dos Santos taking on MMA veteran Gilbert Yvel, who will be making his UFC debut. UFC 108: Junior Dos Santos vs Gilbert Yvel Fight Odd, Picks & Predictions at online bookmaker BetUS.com have Dos Santos listed as a heavy -350 favorite.

Twenty-five year old Junior Dos Santos burst onto the UFC scene in October of 2008 with a first round knock out of Fabricio UFC 108: Junior Dos Santos vs Gilbert Yvel Fight Odds, Picks & PredictionsWerdum. He has since defeated Stefan Struve (TKO) and the legendary Mirko Cro Cop (Submission) to bring his UFC record to 3-0. The hulking Dos Santos, who stands 6'4" tall and weighed in at 237lbs. for tonight's fight, possesses a 9-1 professional mixed martial arts record. His only loss came in November of 2007 when he was submitted via arm bar by Joaquim Ferreira at the MTL - Final.

Dos Santos, who has a purple belt in Jiu-Jitsu, is primarily a stand-up fighter with good boxing skills. His style should make for an interesting battle with the always dangerous Yvel.

Gilbert Yvel comes into his Octagon debut sporting a 36-13-1 (1 NC with Wanderlei Silva) professional MMA record. Yvel last fought in June of 2009 when he scored a devastating knock out win against Pedro Rizzo at FFI - Ultimate Chaos. Prior to the Rizzo fight, Yvel fell in round three to Josh Barnett at Affliction - Day of Reckoning in January of 2009. The 33 year old Yvel, who hails from Amsterdam, Holland but fights out of Las Vegas, won seven straight fights before the Barnett loss.

Yvel, who is a former kickboxing champion, also possesses a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu; however, like Dos Santos, he does most of his work standing up. He has a great deal of power as 31 of his 36 wins have come via KO or TKO.

The edge should go to Dos Santos here. The big Brazilian has proven what he can do with his hands, but he also showed the type of chin he has when he squared of with Cro Cop. Dos Santos took several hard shots from the Russian, but never appeared shaken. His power and durability will eventually get to the veteran Yvel.
