The big boys will be on display this Saturday evening as UFC 81: Breaking Point comes to you from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Thanks to the retirement of UFC legend and Heavyweight champion Randy Couture, two time UFC Champ Tim “The Maine-iac” Sylvia (26-3) will take his imposing 6’8” frame into the octagon to do battle with one time Pride champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (30-4-1).
Sylvia will look to take advantage of his long reach and devastating knockout power and will do everything possible to keep the fight off the mat. Sportsbook.com has Tim Sylvia as a +160 odds underdog in UFC 81. Nogueira, on the other hand, has the better advantage on the ground. Nogueira is very effective striker as well, but excels on the ground thanks to his outstanding Brazilian jiu-jitsu skills.
Despite the Sylvia vs. Nogueira being a five round title fight, the other heavyweight match-up on the card is getting just as much attention from the bettors at Sportsbook.com and the media a like. Former college All-American wrestler/ WWE superstar/ Minnesota Vikings summer camp d-lineman, Brock Lesnar, will take on former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir.
Whereas Lesnar is pretty green in the octagon being that this is just his second UFC fight, Mir is as experienced as they come as his first fight in the UFC dates back to November of 2001. This fight will be a huge test for the raw Lesnar as he will take on a fighter, in Mir, who specializes in submission holds.
