UFC 110 Odds: When UFC 110 gets underway on Saturday night, veteran fighters Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic and Ben Rothwell will be thinking about one thing: establishing themselves inside the Octagon. Both fighters are previous champions in other leagues, "Cro Cop" in PRIDE and Rothwell in the IFL, but neither has tasted much success in the UFC. They now have an opportunity to change that, but only one man can do it this weekend as the two will square off against each other at the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia. Cro Cop is presently listed as a -160 moneyline favorite in Bodog.com's UFC 110 Odds and UFC 110 Picks.
Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic was once one of the most feared fighters on the planet, but now he is just trying to survive in a 
tough heavyweight division. Cro Cop has lost three of his four UFC fights, including his latest, a third round submission to Junior Dos Santos last September. While he did score a first round TKO against Mostapha Al Turk prior to the Dos Santos fight, the 35 year old Croatian has shown an inability to get by some of the divisions best, losing also to Cheick Kongo and Gabriel Gonzaga.
The 2006 PRIDE Grand Prix Champion aims to change that on Saturday, his motivation no doubt spurred by the UFC's dismissal of both Mark Coleman and Frank Trigg after UFC 109 two weeks ago.
"I have trained very hard for this fight," Cro Cop said. "I will give [the fans] my best performance in the Octagon yet."
Ben Rothwell , who is seven years Cro Cop's junior, would also like to make his presence felt in a division thick with talent. A win over Cro Cop would be a step in the right direction, especially after Rothwell's first foray into the Octagon. Last October the Wisconsin native made his UFC debut, which Cain Velasquez spoiled with a TKO at 0:58 into round two. While Filipovic's name no longer carries the status that it once did, a victory against him would help Rothwell prove that he belongs.
Note: Ben Rothwell has withdrawn from UFC 110 (illness) since the writing of this article. He will be replaced by Sydney native Anthony Perosh. Perosh, who is 0-2 inside the Octagon, has not fought in the UFC since losing to Christian Wellisch in December of 2006.
