UFC 110 Odds, Picks & Predictions: Tonight's UFC 110 card features a main event battle between heavyweight veteran Antonio "Minotauro" Nogueira and rising star Cain Velasquez. Also on this evening's docket is a middleweight clash between Wanderlei Silva and Michael Bisping and a light heavyweight fight involving Keith Jardine and Ryan Bader. UFC 110 is scheduled to get underway at 10:00pm ET (3:00am GMT) at the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia; the event can be seen live on Pay-Per-View. Antonio Minotauro Nogueira vs Cain Velasquez UFC 110 Odds, Picks & Predictions at BetUS.com have Velasquez listed as a slight -120 moneyline favorite.
Antonio Nogueira had achieved legendary status prior to his arrival in the UFC, and he has done nothing to tarnish his
tremendous legacy since making his Octagon debut in July of 2007. Nogueira, a former PRIDE Heavyweight champion, is 3-1 in the UFC, his only loss coming at the hands of Frank Mir following their stint as coaches on The Ultimate Fighter. Mir scored a second round TKO against "Big Nog", but the Brazilian had been hospitalized prior to the fight with an illness.
Nogueira, however, made amends for that loss by getting a unanimous decision win over UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture in August of last year. The win, which showcased his jiu-jitsu as well as his great standup skills, improved Nogueira's MMA record to 32-5-1.
This evening, Nogueira will face his most difficult challenge in the Octagon yet in Velasquez. Still, the savvy Rio native is counting on his knowledge to get him another victory, and, perhaps, a shot at the title.
"He's a good guy, he's in shape, he pushes the fight and he's hungry," Nogueira said. "But I have much more experience than him, and that's my advantage."
Cain Velasquez enters this evening's fight with an unblemished 7-0 professional record and a 5-0 tally inside the Octagon. The 27 year old California native got a second round TKO against Ben Rothwell in his last fight, which came in October of 2009. The early stoppage marked Velasquez sixth T(KO); he has had just one fight go the distance, a unanimous decision win over Cheick Kongo at UFC 99.
The winner of this evening's fight might earn a showdown with Brock Lesnar when the heavyweight champ is able to return to the UFC; however, Velasquez is not looking past Nogueira, someone he admires and respects.
"I'm excited to be fighting a legend like Nogueira," Velasquez said. "He goes out there and has exciting fights, fights with all his heart and that's how I fight."
