The UFC descends upon the Garden State tomorrow night as UFC 111 takes place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The huge card features a clash for the Welterweight Championship as current title holder Georges "Rush" St. Pierre takes on Bristish bad boy Dan "The Outlaw" Hardy. Also on the docket is a battle for the Interim Heavyweight Championship between former champ Frank Mir and top contender Shane Carwin. UFC 111 Betting Odds at online bookmaker BetUS.com have St. Pierre listed as a huge -700 moneyline favorite.
Georges St. Pierre will be making his fourth title defense against the always talkative Hardy tomorrow evening. The French-
Canadian has won six consecutive fights to improve his professional record to 19-2. The 27 year old Hardy, who is fighting out of Nottingham, England, possesses a 23-6 MMA record; he is undefeated inside the Octagon, going 4-0 since joining the UFC in October of 2008.
St. Pierre, who is considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, feels that Hardy presents him with his most difficult challenge to date.
"It's gonna be a tough fight and I am ready for a war," St. Pierre said.
Frank Mir, who held the interim title until falling to Brock Lesnar in July of last year, is stepping in for the injured champion to take on Carwin. Lesnar and Carwin were scheduled to meet each other in November of 2009 before an intestinal issue nearly ended the former Ohio State wrestler's career. The massive Carwin is 11-0 all-time and 4-0 inside the Octagon. Despite the Denver native's record, Mir is listed as a slight -155 moneyline favorite in tomorrow's fight.
Also on the card is a battle between top middleweight Jon Fitch and Ben "Killa B" Saunders. Saunders is replacing Thiago Alves, who the New Jersey Athletic Commission determined could not fight after failing a CAT scan.
