UFC 112 Betting Odds

by Matt Foust on Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

UFC 112 Betting Odds: The United Arab Emirates welcomes mixed martial arts biggest organization this weekend as UFC 112: Invincible takes place at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. The power packed ticket features two championship fights as Demain Maia takes on middleweight champion Anderson Silva and Frankie Edgar challenges lightweight belt-holder B.J. Penn. The undercard card is highlighted by a grudge match between former welterweight champ Matt Hughes and Brazilian Ju-Jitsu ace Renzo Gracie. UFC 112 Betting Odds at SPORTSBETTING.com have the two champions, Silva and Penn, both favored at -800 moneyline odds.

Anderson Silva, largely considered the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, has owned the UFC's middileweight UFC 112 Betting Oddsdivision since joining the organization in June of 2006. The 34 year old Brazilian has reeled off 10 straight wins inside the Octagon, beating the likes of Rich Franklin, Dan Henderson, Nate Marquardt, and Forrest Griffin. Even more impressive is the fact that Silva has gone to a decision just one time in his 10 UFC battles while scoring seven T/KO's and two submissions.

Demian Maia, who is stepping in for an injured Vitor Belfort, has also had a notable UFC run, going 6-1 inside the Octagon. The Brazilian's only loss came against Nate Marquardt in August of 2009. He rebounded from that defeat, though, by scoring a unanimous decision win over Dan Miller at UFC 109: Relentless. Five of Maia's six UFC wins have come via submission.

B.J. Penn, like Silva, has dominated his weight class, successfully defending his lightweight crown three times in the past two years. Penn last fought in December when he got a TKO win over top contender Diego Sanchez. Prior beating Sanchez, the Hawaii native scored a submission victory over Kenny Florian, leaving serious doubts if there is a 155lbs. fighter that can challenge him.

However, Frankie Edgar might be the answer, which is fitting since the New Jersey native goes by the moniker "The Answer". Edgar possesses an 11-1 MMA record and he is 6-1 in the UFC, knocking off top challengers Tyson Griffin and Spencer Fisher as well as former champ Sean Sherk.
