UFC 112 Results: UFC 112 is in the books, marking the organization's first successful outdoor event. Middleweight champion Anderson Silva retained his belt against Demian Maia, but BJ Penn lost in a stunning upset to New Jersey native Frankie Edgar. Edgar, who was a +500 moneyline underdog at SBGglobal.com, is the first lightweight to beat Penn since Jens Pulver did it in January of 2002.

Anderson Silva (-800) preserved his middleweight title, but his unsportsmanlike and unengaging performance from round UFC 112 Resultsthree on illicited boos from the crowd and criticism from UFC President Dana White.

"If you're that talented, be Mike Tyson, go in there and finish," White Said. "I'm so blown away and disgusted and saddened."

Silva spent the final three rounds of the fight evading Maia, even at one point running away from him in the fifth and final round. Silva easily won the first two rounds and could have eliminated Maia seemingly at will, but instead chose to disgrace himself and the UFC. He ultimately won a unanimous decision, but the ring announcer did not even give the judges scores.

BJ Penn gave a much more valiant effort in defense of his lightweight belt, but the diminutive Edgar proved to be too much for the champ, at least according to the judges. Edgar scored a unanimous decision victory, which left many scratching their heads in spite of the nice performance by the challenger. This battle has rematch written all over it.

Former welterweight champion Matt Hughes got his second win in a row as referee Herb Dean stopped his fight with Renzo Gracie at the 4:40 mark of the third round. Hughes, who was listed as a -500 favorite, rendered Gracie defenseless with a flurry of kicks and two vicious rights that prompted Dean to step in for the Jiu-Jitsu master.
