Bisping has looked anything but the next great fighter he was labeled to be. In UFC 75 Bisping took on Matt Hamill, formerly of The Ultimate Fighter, in a match in Bisping hometown of England. Bisping wins via split decision after three rounds. Two judges scored the bout 29-28 in favor of Bisping while one judge scored it 30-27 in favor of Hamill. This result was highly controversial as most media outlets had scored the bout 30-27 in favor of Hamill. After the fight Dana White also expressed surprise at the outcome and stated he had scored Hamill as the winner as well. They gave the fight to Bisping because the fight was in his hometown and he’s more of a fan favorite, which means money for the UFC. His opponent Charles McCarthy has only fought twice in the UFC for a 1-1 record. What they couldn’t find someone more experienced and talented for Bisping to fight. This is a setup match by the UFC so Bisping can win. McCarthy’s first UFC fight was against David Loiseau in UFC 53 which Loiseau defeated McCarthy by technical knockout (spinning back kick) at 2:10 of round two. His next fight was on The Ultimate Fighter 4 Finale in which he defeated Gideon Ray for his first win as a UFC fighter. McCarthy is a fighter with great submission skills and he’s got knockout power in his punches. Most notable wins for Charles McCarthy: Gideon Ray, Mike Van Meer(FT3) and Timothy Williams(FT3) When: April 19, 2008 10:00 PM ET Line: Sportsbook.com Pick: Michael Bisping -325 The Bottom Line: Like i said before, this is a setup match so Bisping will look good. They could have found better tougher fighters for him. McCarthy's only chance is to take it to the mat and hope for a submission, oh god i hope he beats Bisping. But Bisping has more fight experience so go with him. Get your UFC 83 Prediction in Now! |
