urrent Light Heavyweight Champ Lyoto Machida won the title from Rashad Evans and his first title defense was against Mauricio Rua at UFC 104. Machida won a unanimous decision winning, 48-47 from all three judges, with one stating that Machida "landed the more damaging strikes throughout the fight" and was the more "effective aggressor". But controversy was soon to follow. Many members of the audience reacted negatively. Writers for a number of sports websites/magazines also claimed they felt Rua had won. Machida, the UFC light heavyweight champion, is one of the most well-rounded fighters in the world. He will look to finish this fight the second time around utilizing his elusive and erratic fighting style with more aggression against Rua.
