Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida will take on light heavyweight champion "Sugar" Rashad Evans this Saturday night, May 23rd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Online bookmaker BetUS.com likes the Japanese-Brazilian to prevail in the fight and has him listed at 1 to 2 betting odds in the title match. Lyoto Machida, who is a perfect 14-0 in his mixed martial arts career, earned a shot at the light heavyweight title after Quinton "Rampage" Jackson had to dismiss himself from the UFC 98 card due to injury. The 30 year old Brazilian has done more than enough in his brief UFC stint to warrant a go at Evans. In six UFC fights, Machida has looked almost invincible, pounding the likes of Rameau Sokoudjou, Tito Ortiz, and Thiago Silva. Silva, the latest "Dragon" victim, was dispatched via knock out by the Karate master at 4:49 in round one back in January of this year. Despite his unblemished record and stellar performances inside the Octagon, Machida knows that Evans will likely be his most difficult challenge to date. "Rashad is a strong athlete. From what I have seen, he seems to be a complete fighter," Machida said. "He has got really fast hands and really good takedowns." Machida, well aware of Evans wrestling skills and his ability to score the knock out when necessary, nevertheless, feels comfortable that he will be up to the task come Saturday night. "I am very relaxed right now," Machida said. "I have trained a lot based on Rashad's gameplan and built my gameplan for this fight around that. For myself, I am going to go out their with a clear mind and do what I train to do."
